Chengde Medical College is evolved from "Health School of Jidong Region" founded in 1945

The college is located in Chengde in Hebei Province, which is a famous international tourist city and only 4 hours drive from Chinese capital city Beijing.

The college covers 1500 mu and its total area covered by its buildings is about 210,000 m2. The value of the college's fixed assets is 300 million Yuan. There are over 6,000 resident students and 1, 748 authorized employees out of which more than 540 are professors and associate professors.

The college consists of six major departments. There are ten specialties for undergraduates and seven specialties for diploma students. The Nursing Education and the English Nursing Education are the "trademarks" of our college which has been taught in our college for many years. Therefore the college staff has the qualities and the qualifications to teach the international students MBBS in English.

There are 51 teaching and research sections, 24 labs, and 6 scientific research institutions in the college. Among them, the Institute of Chinese Traditional Medicine is a key lab sanctioned by Hebei Province to promote and expand the study and research of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The college has eight affiliated hospitals and 63 teaching hospitals. Altogether there are over 15,000 beds.

Teaching Staff

CDMC attaches great importance to the enhancement of the teaching staff. It has sent 189 teachers to the Chinese Academy of Science and to other famous universities to pursue doctor's degrees or master's degrees. It has sent over 30 teachers to study abroad. It now possesses a well organized teaching and research faculty with high intellectual standards. There are 400 teaching faculty members and researchers, 75 of them are professors and 135 of them are associate professors, 15 of them posse’s doctor's degrees and 121 of them posses master's degree. The college also engages 22 famous specialists out of campus as part-time professors to teach at CDMC.

College Hospitals

Chengde medical college hospital was constructed in 1949, and its predecessor was the Rehe provincial hospital. After more than 50 years of development, the hospital has become a comprehensive hospital for patient care, medical education, scientific research and preventative health care.

The hospital covers 63,744 m2 with a total building area of abort 71,564 m2.The total fixed assets are estimated at over 20 million RMB. There is a staff of 1,144 employees and 67 of them have the doctor or master's degree. There are 800 open beds and 50 medical care aid technical departments. There are six research institutes: the Eugenia Heredity Institute, the Central Laboratory, the Sterility Laboratory, the Brain Blood Vessel Disease Laboratory, the Skin and Venereal Diseases Laboratory, and the Clinical Pharmacy Laboratory. The Heart Surgery Department, Neurosurgery Department, Tumor Surgery Department, Heart Internal Medicine Department, Medicine Center Dentistry, Skin and Venereal Diseases Department and the Nerve Internal Medicine Department are in the advanced level in Hebei Province.

College Library

Founded in 1944, Chengde Medical College's library gradually expanded along with the college's development. The college library provides various services and resources to support the research aid educational activities of the College students and staff.

The total building area of the college library is 4,000 m2. The library holds over 300,000 books,   has a subscription to over 982 journals. The library holds also many non-print materials: compact discs, audiotapes and microfilms. In addition, the library provides various kinds of Medical databases.
